Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

This page explains, in plain English, what information this website collects, why, and what is done with it. There is not much of it, and none of it is sold.

1. Who runs this site

This site (jj-carson.com) is operated personally by the author. There is no marketing department, no third-party tracking pixel, and no analytics service holding hands with an advertising network. If you would like to ask a real human a question about your data, you can write to letters@jj-carson.com.

2. What we collect

Only what you give us, and only what the site needs to run.
• If you fill in the contact form, we keep your name, email address and message so a reply can be sent.
• If you subscribe to the newsletter, we keep your email and the date you subscribed.
• The site stores small, anonymised request logs (IP address, page visited, timestamp) for two weeks for security reasons — standard practice for any modern website.
We do not collect: financial information, location data, demographic data, or anything you have not voluntarily typed into a box.

3. Cookies

The site sets a small number of strictly necessary cookies (for example, to remember your dark-mode preference). No advertising cookies are set, anywhere, ever. No analytics provider is loaded that requires consent.

4. How long we keep things

Contact form messages are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted. Newsletter subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe — one click in any email does it. Request logs are rotated after 14 days.

5. Third parties

The site is hosted by a UK-based hosting provider. Newsletter delivery uses a privacy-respecting service that is compliant with the GDPR. No data is shared with anyone else. No advertising network has ever been given access.

6. Your rights

You can ask, at any time, for a copy of everything this site holds about you, for it to be corrected, or for it to be deleted entirely. Email letters@jj-carson.com. There is no form. There is no waiting list. It is one person reading the email, and they will act on it within a calendar week.

7. Children

This site is not intended for, or marketed to, children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it on receipt.

8. Changes

If this policy changes in any material way, the change will be noted at the top of this page with a new “Last updated” date. The previous version will remain available on request.
